Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how MentorStar works, who it is for, and how we handle safety.
General
About the platform
What ages is MentorStar for?
Ages 4 to 18, organised into five learning stages. The platform adapts to demonstrated readiness rather than to a birthday, so a learner can sit at different levels across subjects.
Is this a game or a learning platform?
Both, deliberately. Curriculum outcomes are engineered as playable quests. The game is the method of instruction, not a reward bolted onto a lesson.
How is this different from other learning apps?
Most report completion. MentorStar measures mastery — time-to-mastery, retention and transfer — and adapts the next quest from that evidence.
Which curriculum do you follow?
Quests are mapped to real curriculum outcomes, configured per deployment. Our first alignments are built for schools in the UAE.
AI & safety
About the AI mentors
Will the AI do my child's work for them?
No. Mentors use Socratic questioning and graduated hints. Handing over answers would break both the pedagogy and the measurement.
How do you keep AI conversations safe?
Mentor behaviour is specified, tested and version-controlled, with strict age-appropriate dialogue rules and human oversight.
What data do you collect?
Only what improves the learning experience. Data minimisation and privacy-by-design are architectural commitments, and reporting to parents is transparent.
Getting started
Access, devices and schools
What devices do I need?
A modern tablet, laptop or desktop with a reliable internet connection. Younger stages are voice-led and need audio.
How do schools start?
With a defined pilot: two year groups, one subject strand, agreed measures, and a shared review of the evidence before any wider rollout.
How do families start?
Register your interest and we will get you into the first available cohort with a free starting path for your child's stage.
