Learning stages
Every age has its own way in
MentorStar adapts to demonstrated readiness, not to a birthday — but each stage is designed around how children of that age actually learn.

Five stages at a glance
| Stage | Ages | Focus | Session | Subjects |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Early Explorers | 4–6 | Number sense, phonics, pattern recognition, fine motor control, and the habit of trying again after a mistake. | 8–12 minute quests, voice-led, minimal reading required | Early numeracy, Phonics & early reading, Shapes & patterns, Curiosity & questions |
| Rising Stars | 7–9 | Core curriculum outcomes: multiplication and division, reading fluency and comprehension, scientific observation, and structured problem solving. | 12–18 minute quests with a clear mastery goal per session | Mathematics, Reading & comprehension, Science foundations, Problem solving |
| Skill Builders | 10–12 | Fractions and ratio, multi-step reasoning, expository writing, data literacy, and learning how to plan their own approach. | 15–25 minute quests, often multi-stage projects | Mathematics, Writing & argument, Science inquiry, Data literacy |
| Young Innovators | 13–15 | Algebra and geometry, computational thinking, scientific modelling, source evaluation, and building things that work. | 20–35 minute project quests across multiple sessions | Algebra & geometry, Coding, AI literacy, Science & modelling, Critical thinking |
| Future Leaders | 16–18 | Advanced subject mastery, research and synthesis, communication, entrepreneurship, and readiness for university and work. | 30–45 minute deep-work quests and extended challenges | Advanced mathematics, Applied AI, Research & synthesis, Communication, Global citizenship |
Not sure which stage fits?
Start with the learner's age. The first few quests diagnose actual readiness and move them to the right level automatically — a nine-year-old strong in maths and building reading fluency will sit in two different places at once, and that is by design.
Stages describe the experience and the mentor's tone. The skill graph decides the content.
